The Free Market is Officially Dead

Whenever you hear someone complain about the way our society functions today the advocates of capitalism spring into being like the spirits of ancient legends.

The capitalists know there is a short path between a random person asking itself why modern society doesn’t seem to function correctly and the realization that capitalism is at the core of most our modern problems.

The reason is simple: capitalism encourages petty thinking, individualism and victim blaming which, for a society ( e.g. a group of people ) is bad news as in order for some people to live lavish lives others need to live in poverty.

There are limits to the money printed in a country or economical zone because they need to reflect something tangible. If money fail to translate to a real asset or obligation..well, look around you: a VW Golf that set you back around $7400 in 1985, now costs around $24000 and don’t get me started on house prices.

In the past money represented resources ( gold, silver, bronze and so on ) or foods ( rice, corn, wheat, meat, milk and so on ) but since 1980 ( thank you Reagan ) they don’t represent anything.

Numerous “fake” jobs have appeared like the manager, assistant manager, marketer and influencer that don’t really produce anything but receive large sums of money contributing only to inflation and the devaluation of the currency.

Basically, if you ever felt the impostor syndrome, your job is useless.

Marketing is another completely useless field despite its omnipresence in today’s world [1]. There are huge amounts of money going in and out of this industry without any real and calculable benefit to society.

A balance between the income of people actually producing something and the ones higher up the chain needs to be reinstated otherwise our society will simply collapse.

This is something that really baffles my mind: whenever farmers, miners and builders complain they receive too little pay or that their industry has become unsustainable I hear many people urging them to go find other jobs or disciplines.

Have you all completely lost your minds? These are the people that make our world function! If we’re all economists and programmers how the f#*k are we going to eat and where the f*** are we going to sleep?

I’m a programmer and economist and I’m telling you: there are enough people in these fields that already hate their jobs and have no passion or drive. We don’t need more.

Has it ever occurred in your empty heads that some people are passionate about their jobs and forcing them into other disciplines will just make them blasé and bored all the time? There are lots of people like that in this age. I’m wondering why <insert sarcasm here>.

It is absolutely clear to me socialism is the only way out of this mess and the only way to brake the mindless consumerism and greed that have ruined our planet and the global economy.

But whenever someone timidly whispers ”socialism” the capitalists spring out of the ground shouting about communism and the benefits of the free market.

The argument about communism is childish and ridiculous. You see my friends, socialism, capitalism and corporatism are economical systems while democracy and communism are systems of government. They aren’t all interchangeable, in fact, they normally mix together.

We can see how China has a communist governmental system and a capitalist economical system. That country hasn’t blown up, in fact, it has prospered. Why? Because restrained capitalism can produce economical performance but only while restrained, as soon as the free-market rears its ugly head everything goes down the toilet.

Restrained capitalism or, in some cases, socialism have also dragged Europe out of the destruction created by the Second World War and I’m adamant had we “enjoyed” the “perks” of the free-market back then, we’d still be living under a huge pile of rubble today.

The truth is I’ve always dismissed the free-market notion as a childish concept that has proved over the past four decades just how much destruction it can bring to our planet and society.

The problem was, whenever I started talking about socialism, restrained capitalism or a fair taxation of the rich, the free-market capitalists started shouting about how that will bring the capitalist Armageddon and how we’ll all live penniless from that point onward.

I’ve never had that silver bullet argument to really shut them up, but now I have it.

You see, I’ve said I wash my hands with the whole Russian-Ukrainian war ordeal and I did as said. There are just too many lies and hypocrisy on both parts for me to take a side but the crackers…I mean…the Western World naturally took a side: everybody but Russia, as always.

In doing that, they’ve supplied me with all the ammunition I needed in order to expose the dirty lie at the core of all the social and economical injustice that has taken place since Reagan unleashed his Reaganomics [2], back in the 80s.

You see, the theory went like this: if you impose a proper taxation on the so-called elite you will force the poor little souls to flee to another country where they won’t be - bless their pure little souls - taxed, leaving their former country without the jobs ( amen to that [3] ) and money ( as long as they’re not from taxes ) the blessed elite bring.

That will destroy the very fabric of space-time continuum leaving us all in a deep empty void.

Now, the Russian-Ukrainian war has taught us that all that talk is bollocks. We’ve seen how large Russian companies like Gazprom have been eliminated from the free-market and how Russian businessmen and businesswomen have been forced to flee EU cities.

The problem with this is the free-market concept is in black and white: you either have it or you don’t. You can’t have 40% or 50% free-market.

What also made a particular impact on me was the case of Roman Abramovich, Owner of Chelsea Football Club who, after the war started, was stripped of his ownership of Chelsea and the club was nationalized. After another owner came along the club was sold to the new owner. Simple.

So if, let’s say, a certain Bezos refuses to pay his taxes and flees the country you can nationalize his company and sell it to another businessman/businesswoman ( I’m sure Bill or Elon will be more than happy to fill that vacant position ). Again, simple.

This paves the way for proper taxation of the wealthy and there’s nothing to stop the general public demanding that right now.

So, demand it.

Cheers.
